The 4 Best Budget Portable Air Compressor for RV Tires and Campers

The 4 Best Budget Portable Air Compressor for

What is the best tire inflator for RV may not be the first thing you think of when you get your RV. Actually, when you get your first RV, you start to think of all the cool things that you need to buy to go inside it. Things like a TV, comfy cushions, a sound system and so on. But something like an RVTire inflator compressor may not even enter your head, yet if you ask me, it is something every single RV needs to have! With that in mind, today we are looking at some of the best budget portable air compressor for RV tires.

Why Do I Need  Portable Air Compressor In My RV?

This is the question that you are no doubt asking yourself, but this is something that as I said in the intro, every RV needs to have. Many people do not realize this, but RV’s tires need to be treated with care and in an ideal world, you need to take a little bit of the air out of them when you are going off road and then, of course, you need to inflate them properly when you are back on the main roads. People do not do this and then wonder why they blow a tire or why they need to keep replacing tires so quickly. If you like to go into the woods with your RV, chances are there is not going to be a portable air pump there to take care of your tires, but with one already in your RV, you will be ahead of the game! Just having one for emergencies is a great idea so keep that in mind.

Where Would I Keep It?

One thing that you will notice as we look for the best tire inflator for RV is that they are all a lot smaller than you would think. So do not worry about a budget portable air compressor for RV tires taking up a lot of space. Many people find that it can easily fit in one of the storage areas and not take up much real estate at all. So do not use “I do not have any space” as an excuse for neglecting your tires.

Something To Know About Portable RV Air Compressors

One thing that I want to mention about looking for a budget priced RV air compressor is that most of these due to their low price will be around 100 PSI. Now for me, this is fine, but for those that want their tires inflated at a much quicker rate, this might be a little slow. But at this price range, 100 PSI is most of the time what you are going to get.

Budget Portable Air Compressor For RV Tires Reviews

I was given the chance to check out two of the most popular air compressors. These are often on lists of what is the best tire inflator for RV. The first two I have actually used with my own RV and the second two that we are looking at I did not actually personally use, but they are quite popular so I will be giving the specs and reviews a good look over and letting you know if they deserve a closer look.

First up we have the P.I. Auto Store – Premium 12V DC Tire Air Compressor Pump which is one of the most popular RV tire inflator compressor. First of all, this is very easy to use. It is powered by your RV’s cigarette lighter (so you might need an extension cable) and that is that. It has an LCD screen so you can set the tire pressure you want, you connect the end to your tire and you are good to go.

The max PSI that this offers is 100 and for most people that is more than enough. One cool thing is that they give you a load of different adapters and even some spare dust caps, which are handy as I have the bad habit of misplacing them when I take them off tires, not just my RV, but tires in general!

This unit is cool in that it comes in a pretty cool case, it takes up very little space and it can easily be put in one of the drawers in your RV, or if your RV is like mine, it might even fit under one of the seats which is super handy. At 40 bucks, I feel that this is a fantastic RV ac compressor. The LCD screen and the way the buttons are all clearly labeled make it so even a person who has never inflated or deflated a tire before will be able to use it.

Cons:

  • Depending on size of RC, you may need an adapter to reach tires
  • Honestly cannot think of another con!

I highly recommend this and have had no issues with it at all. In trying to think of some negatives, I am actually not really able to come up with any that would make me second guess recommending this to a fellow RV fanatic.

Next up we have this portable air compressor from EPAuto. This one is priced a few bucks cheaper and it actually comes in black or blue if that is the kind of thing you care about. It has 100 PSI which is about average for something like this. Many people do claim this is the best tire inflator for RV and I can see why after using it. It is very easy to use.

They have a nice sized LCD screen and just a few simple buttons so that you can select the kind of air pressure that you want. Like the other one, this plugs into the RV cigarette socket and the reach of the cable will, of course, depend on the size of your RV. While my only concern was PSI it is pretty neat how this also can display KPA, BAR and KG/CM so if that is something you need think of it as a huge plus.

This RV tire inflator compressor comes in a handy storage bag and it is quite small in its size so it will not take up much space. But the design of it is more “pump” like than the other one. Speaking of the design I mentioned this comes in black and blue, but I was shocked to learn that the blue version which functions exactly the same is priced at 10 bucks more!

Cons:

  • Blue version is ten bucks more!
  • Design may not suit everyone.

Still, even with that ten bucks, it is a cheaper option and one that will get the job done for most people. I actually really liked this. It was easy to use, not too large and took care of my tires in no time at all. It was actually so quick that my wife shouted at me for playing with it! It comes with all the adapters that you need for your RV, bikes, balls and anything else that needs some air.

3. Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor

Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor

Pros:

  • Rather simple to use
  • Comes with a storage bag
  • Does not take up much space
  • Power cable is nice and long
  • Has up to 100 PSI

Now for the Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor, I did not actually test this one out, but when you look online for the best RV tire inflator compressor this one here regularly appears. It costs just over 30 bucks and requires a 12 V power source which means it just plugs into your car cigarette lighter. This has been made to be as simple as possible. You plug it into your RV, plug it into your tire, select the pressure and turn it on.

This one does not have an LCD screen it has a classic dial for telling you the air pressure. Now, this really is not a bad thing, but when other budget portable air compressor for RV tires that are the same price have an LCD screen which makes things much easier, I start to question the price.

Cons:

  • No LCD screen
  • Seems more basic that similarly priced RV air compressors

Apart from that though, all of the reviews say that this does exactly what you want it to do. The 100 PSI is pretty standard and will be great for your RV and the nice long cable should reach the back tires (unless you are blessed to have a monster of an RV) so while it may not be fancy, it does get the job done. One nice touch is that it comes with a storage bag so you can just hide it away in the RV when it is not needed. It has the classic pump design which some people may get a kick out of.

4. LifeLine AAA 300 PSI 12 Volt DC Air Compressor

LifeLine AAA 300 PSI 12 Volt DC Air Compressor

  • Only costs 20 bucks
  • Simple to use
  • 300 PSI
  • Is a compact size
  • Comes with multiple adapters

The last RV tire inflator compressor that we are looking at is also the cheapest. At under 20 bucks the LifeLine AAA 300 PSI 12 Volt DC Air Compressor is great if you want something cheap and easy. It actually goes up to 300 PSI so it will be a little quicker than the others we are looking at. It is very simple to use, connect it to your RV cigarette lighter, to the tire and turn it on.

That is all there is to it. It is as simple as possible and for most people that is all they need. It comes with a few different adapters and that is great if you have things like bikes and footballs with you while you are on your RV vacation. I have not actually used this, but all of the reviews I have read make it sound very easy to use. There is no LCD screen, which is something I personally think all air compressors for RV’s should have. One thing that I do really like is the fact that this is so compact in size, it will take up next to no space in your RV.

Cons:

  • No carrying bag
  • Does not have an LCD display

As this is a budget priced portable air compressor for RV tires, a few corners have had to be cut to keep that price at around 20 bucks. The power cable is not the longest and as far as I can tell there is no carrying bag included. It is pretty basic, but that extra 200 PSI it has may be what sways you on if this is the right air compressor for your RV. You have to keep in mind something at this price range is going to take a little while to blow up your tires, but hey, at least that gives you more time to relax and enjoy the scenery.

What Is The Best Budget Portable Air Compressor For RV Tires And Campers?

Out of the two I tried and the other two that I looked at, they all offer the same kind of thing if I am honest and I would base your decision on what is the best RV tire air compressor on the price and the size (so they do not take up much space in your RV) However if I had to pick a clear cut winner out of the four that is actually very easy to do and the one I would go for is the P.I. Auto Store – Premium 12V DC Tire Air Compressor Pump.

It may be a couple of bucks more, but the easy to use LCD screen, the carrying bag, and the actual shape of the compressor are what make it my favorite. It fits right under the passenger side chair in my RV and I have not had any trouble with it when I have used it. The other three are fine and if you like the classic pump look then go for one of them, but the P.I. Auto Store is the best tire inflator for RV if you ask me.
